CHAPTER 11
Ollie
There was a heavy but comfortable weight pressing around my waist. It wasnât the worst way to wake up.
Jamesâs body was pressed flush against mine, holding me so close I could feel his breath tickling me, rustling the hair at the back of my neck.
Sunlight streamed in from the window, its scent mingling with the smell of cherry wood on his skin.
Everything about him seemed to envelop me, lulling me into a sense of peace.
I wanted to turn to look at him, wondering if this was the only chance I could see him like this.
The way his chest rose and fell with each breath, the shape of his lips as he sleptâ I wanted to remember every detail.
But I didnât want to move.
It felt too comfortable right now, just lying here together in the quiet morning light.
Instead, I snuggled into his warmth, placing my hand over his and running my fingers over the veins of his forearms.
âThat feels nice,â James whispered, nuzzling into the crook of my neck.
I shuddered, feeling him smirk against my skin.
Lightly tapping his arm, I urged him to stopânot because it tickled, but because a warm sensation was spreading within me, and if we didnât get up soon, I knew weâd spend the entire day in bed.
"I'm hungry," I grumbled, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction.
âMe too,â James growled playfully, nipping my neck lightly.
âFor food!â I emphasized, twisting my body in an attempt to escape his hold, but James only pulled me in tighter.
Thankfully, right on cue, my stomach grumbled loudly, and James chuckled lightly.
âOk, ok. Iâll make you breakfast. Wait here.â James gave me a quick peck on the cheek before I felt the bed creak as he headed to the bathroom, leaving me alone.
I didnât want to just stay there and wait for him, so I rummaged through our clothes on the floor and found my underwear.
I grabbed a T-shirt from his drawer and headed downstairs.
I wanted to get breakfast started and surprise him. Eggs and toast seemed like the easiest and fastest thing I could prepare before he came down.
As I opened the refrigerator, I frowned at the sight.
Who the heck doesnât have eggs?
Scratch thatânot only did the man not have eggs, but he had stacks of glass containers and ziplock bags filled with something brown and mushy.
I grabbed one and lifted it up to get a better look. It looked like marinated meat.
What was he doing with this much meat in his fridge at home? It looked like he was preparing for a party or something.
Then, I heard a click of a door and whipped my head towards the sound.
âFinally! I didnât think you were ever going to wake up. Dec already has the grill startedâ ââ
I stiffened. It was Cliff.
His eyes widened in surprise as he noticed he wasnât speaking to his older brother.
I could see the moment of understanding dawn in his eyes when he recognized that it was me he was talking to in his brotherâs kitchen.
